Powerful antioxidant capacity: Fullerenes can neutralize a large number of free radicals relative to their size. Studies have indicated that a fullerene-containing cream reduced wrinkle depth and acne lesions, presumably by controlling oxidative stress and inflammation in the skin. They are also being investigated for delivery of other actives. In products, fullerenes help protect skin cells from UV-induced damage and may improve skin texture (one Japanese study found improvements in skin smoothing and pore appearance with a fullerene serum).
